How Vitamin C Supports a Healthy Immune System

Being back at school and the changing weather makes getting sick hard to avoid. Although eating plenty of vitamin C doesn’t prevent you from getting sick entirely, and can help lessen the time you’re sick. Eating enough vitamin C has other benefits as well, including healing wounds, healthy bones, skin, and other tissues, and it acts as an antioxidant. The body is unable to produce vitamin C, so eating enough vitamin C-rich foods is very important to maintaining your health. Some vitamin C-rich foods include citrus fruits, strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, red and green peppers, broccoli, etc. Eating these fruits and vegetables raw is the best way to get vitamin C out of them, as cooking causes them to lose some of their nutritional value
