How Can Low-Calorie Diets Sabotage Your Diet?

Did you know that your body requires fuel every day to simply keep it functioning?  Whether laying on the couch or going for a run, our bodies are always working.  Just as it is important to make sure to consume the right types of foods, it is just as important to make sure to consume enough food to fuel your body throughout the day.  Without accounting for any physical activity, your body needs fuel to allow it to keep breathing, pumping blood, digesting food, and so much more.  Insufficiently fueling your body can significantly harm your overall health as it may prevent you from meeting your nutrient needs, slow your metabolism, and harm your mental health.  Because the vital vitamins and minerals our body needs to stay healthy come from food, eating an insufficient amount of food will likely result in failure to meet these nutritional requirements.  The concern is that this will not only harm current health but long-term health as well.  Along with this, without enough fuel to give the body energy, it is forced to slow down its metabolism to conserve energy.  This will inevitably leave you feeling physically drained.  Finally, not only does an insufficient amount of food harm you physically, but it also harms you mentally.  The glucose your body gets from food is the fuel your brain uses to keep it running efficiently.  Without it, you will not have the mental clarity to perform your best on any task.  Honor your body by providing it with sufficient fuel, in turn giving yourself the means to live your best life.
