Vegetarian and vegan
diets are common, however,
they have to be well-balanced in order to provide health benefits. There are five
myths that circulate around these diets, with the number one being that they don’t include enough protein. Vegans and
vegetarians receive protein from tofu, dairy
products,
vegetables, and legumes. The nutrients found in dairy can be found in other
green vegetables, along with fortified soymilk. There hasn’t been a proven link that increasing soy in a diet increases chances of breast cancer, however, variety is a key component. A well-balanced vegetarian
or vegan diet is suitable for anyone and just needs to be monitored because
some foods in the diet contain high amounts of
sugar, sodium, and saturated fat. The most important thing to do is always read the label and compare it to other options available.
