Fresh from Farm to the Table

The weather is getting warmer and the local farmers' markets are finally opening! These markets provide delicious fresh produce that will get you and your family eating healthier this season. Before going to your local farmers' market, plan a list of produce you are interested in purchasing. Also, check out local ads or the markets website to get an idea of what vendors will be selling. Farmers' markets commonly provide samples of their products, so make it a goal during your visit to try something new. If you like it, purchase it to broaden your diet. This setting is the perfect opportunity to learn more about where your food is coming from. Take a moment to personally converse with the farmers to learn how the food you are purchasing was grown. Ask the vendors for suggestions about how to incorporate the foods they are selling into your diet. You may not only end up going home with fresh produce, but also with fresh, new recipes! Use all your newly purchased produce to make delicious meals with a variety of ingredients and color. Check out your local farmers' market to purchase produce for fresh, healthy eating this spring!
