Good Mood with Food

Need a little boost? Feeling anxious? This time of the year in Ohio tends to get a little gloomy. The nutrients listed below help the brain function to the best of its ability by helping to boost your mood and combat lousy feelings. To help curb these lousy feelings, trying adding some of the following foods to your diet:
Chromium: Increases the body’s production of serotonin, norepinephrine, and melatonin which help regulate your mood.
Sources: Broccoli or turkey breast

Folate: Helps with the production of serotonin which helps the brain send messages more efficiently.
Sources: Asparagus, avocado, and black eyed peas

Iron: Low levels of iron can lead to feelings of fatigue and depression. Getting the right amount of iron is important to combating these feelings.
Sources: Lentils, and soybeans

Omega-3: An essential fatty-acid that helps to combat feelings of depression, fatigue, and decrease mood swings.

Sources: Fish is the best source of Omega-3, try Atlantic salmon or Atlantic herring.
