A Chocolate per Day Keeps the Dementia Away

Are you a chocolate lover? Good news: research has shown that cocoa may be beneficial in improving memory by stimulating blood flow to the brain. A study conducted with older adults found that drinking hot cocoa each day for a month helped improve their memory recall. Now, this doesn't mean that it’s okay to scarf down a king size Hershey milk chocolate bar after each meal. The cocoa plant is the important component of the chocolate-dark chocolate (70% cocoa) is the best source. Serving size is also important: one ounce per day is recommended. Besides improving memory, dark chocolate has also proven beneficial in improving blood pressure and promoting general heart health. So go ahead and indulge (mindfully) on a cup of hot cocoa or a square of Special Dark and enjoy the sweet taste of health.
