Foods Registered Dietitians Eat and Recommend

Dietitians from around the country were interviewed about their favorite health foods, so here are some of the foods on their hot list.

-Berries- Especially dark berries like blueberries, raspberries and black berries. These sweet fruits are high in antioxidants (which can help your body defend illness and aging), fiber, and essential vitamins.
-Eggs- Have been given a bad rap for it’s high cholesterol levels, but having one egg each day will not be detrimental to cholesterol levels. Eggs are packed with about 8 grams of protein, 70 calories, and contain 13 vitamins and minerals including choline which has anti-inflammatory properties.
-Nuts- Many people stay away from eating nuts because of their high fat content. But Dietitians say that the nuts contain monounsaturated fats that can help you maintain and even lose weight. The salty and crunchy snack can fulfill cravings and the fiber content will help keep you fuller.

-Greek Yogurt- It has two times as much protein and less sugar than regular yogurt. This can help keep you fuller longer. It also contains probiotics which is great for immune health.
