Granola Bars: How do you choose?
The debate continues. Is the lower calorie option always better? Not
necessarily. Granola bars for example come in many flavors, textures, and
calories. So is a low calorie granola bar always a better choice? When a
granola bar has less calories it also typically has less of the "good
stuff" like fiber and protein. So while losing calories you’re also
sacrificing other important nutrients. The debate comes down to each individual
person. For some people a higher calorie granola bars may be more beneficial
while for others the lower calorie ones are better. If you are someone looking
to stay fuller longer, it would be better to have a higher protein bar and snack
less. If you want to combine a protein source with a granola bar then the lower
calorie option may be the better choice. So overall, healthy food is not all
about the calories there are many other factors that play a role as well.
