Great Tasting Food That Prevents Disease

It sounds too good to be true but adding functional foods to your diet will improve your health. A functional food is defined as “a food that provides additional health benefits that may reduce disease risk and/or promote good health” by AND. Some functional foods that are recommended include sardines, salmon, nuts, whole-grains, beans, and berries. Fish can decrease heart disease risk, and joint pain. Nuts control blood sugar and are a great snack because they help us feel full. Berries are good because their color has health benefits. Next time you make your plate make sure there is some functional food items on it.
