Helpful Tips for Healthy Holiday Eating

The holidays can always be a busy time and full of parties and social gatherings. While most of these events can include dinner or snacks, here are a few tips to keep in mind to help your diet stay balanced. 

  • Start your day with a meal that includes a protein source and whole grains. It is also great to incorporate fruits and vegetables into this meal as well. Skipping meals before the event can often lead to overeating later in the day. 

  • Before seeking out the food, socialize and settle into your setting allowing yourself to get comfortable with your surroundings before you start eating. 

  • Savor the foods that you enjoy and skip over the ones you don't have an interest in. 

  • When socializing, stay away from the buffet table and food. This will help you stay present in the conversation and avoid unconscious snacking.
