Benefits of Coffee

Nothing smells better in the morning than a fresh cup of coffee. Although for many, the main reason for drinking coffee is to provide energy, many other benefits come with consuming this delicious beverage. Research has shown that drinking moderate amounts of coffee can lead to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, and Parkinson's disease. The nutrients in coffee consist of potassium, magnesium, and niacin, along with antioxidants that work as anti-inflammatory agents. Adding low-fat or fat-free milk to coffee helps to add calcium and vitamin D into the diet. It is important to be careful when adding sweeteners to the coffee as it can quickly become an easy source of added sugars.
