What are Whole Grains?

Whole grains are a great nutritious snack and contain three parts: the bran, germ, and endosperm (refined grains only contain endosperm). The bran and germ help retain the overall bodily health, shiny hair, and glowing skin. When reading food labels, it is important to look for the words “whole grain” because it can be colored, or you can be deceived by the word choices—for example, multi-grain, stone-ground, 100 percent wheat, cracked wheat, and seven-grain. Try swapping refined grains, white bread, and pasta for whole-grains because it’s usually high in fiber and low in sugar; including whole grains in the diet helps reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers.
