There are many different ways to get fruits and vegetables, such as frozen, canned, dried, or fresh. It is important to understand the benefits of the possibilities available in order to make choices that will benefit you even more as a consumer. For frozen, canned, and dried vegetables and fruits, the key concept is to limit the amount of sodium going into the products, which can be checked by reading the food label. In canned fruits and vegetables, it’s important that it is packed in 100% juice with no added sugar or unsweetened. For the frozen varieties, it’s important to read the food label to know what is being put inside the fruits or vegetables. Frozen fruits are great nutritional snacks, but make sure to check whether it is sweetened or unsweetened and if it is made with natural fruit juice. As for the dried fruits and vegetables, it is better to have them plain to avoid unnecessary added sugars or other chemicals, such as sulfites.
