How Many Calories Should I Eat?

Caloric needs vary from person to person based on factors such as age, size, height, sex and lifestyle. One lifestyle factor that affects caloric needs is exercise. Approximate needs for males are 2700 Calories, while approximate values for females are 2200 Calories. To calculate individual energy needs you should first find your basal metabolic rate (BRM). BMR reflects daily caloric requirements without exercise, so, in other words, it reflects your caloric needs just for existing. BMR is based on body weight, height, and age. You can then multiply your BMR by values that represent your activity level to get a value that represents your total daily caloric needs with exercise factored in.
