Breakfast is the most
important meal of the day. Or is it? For years American’s have heard that eating
breakfast is essential to a healthy and in maintaining weight. A report was
made by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, pertaining to this claim. The
report found that this advice as a weight loss or maintenance recommendation
may be based off of misinterpreted studies. The report found a few studies that
were carefully controlled about the effect of eating breakfast. These studies
typically found that skipping has little to no effect on weight gain. Some of
those studies also concluded that people who eat breakfast consume more daily
calories than those who skip breakfast. Some people may need breakfast more
than others. There is not enough evidence to support one side or the other of
this debate. The question still remains, is breakfast the most important meal
of the day?
