Save by Eating Seasonal Produce

Grocery shopping may include buying the same foods each week. You might think, why should I change up what I am buying when I know what everyone likes? But, buying foods that are in season and locally grown is actually a more cost effective and delicious way to shop. Fruits and vegetables that are at their peak are full of nutrients and because they’re so abundant, they will most likely to be the best value. This may also be encouraging to try new foods, which will provide your body with a variety of different disease-fighting phytochemicals. Plums for example, are a delicious and juicy summer fruit. It can be eaten as-is, poached, on pizza, or even grilled for a sweet, caramelized dessert. The purple fruit is a good source of vitamin C, beta-carotene, potassium and fiber. For the juiciest and sweetest plum-eating experience, take the fruit out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature before eating.
