Tableware Containing Melamine can Seep into Food

Recent studies found that melamine, an industrial chemical used in everyday items such as cooking utensils, plates, paperboard and industrial coatings can seep into food when it's heated. Long-term exposure to the chemical could lead to health issues. The FDA has said that the amount of melamine that consumers are usually exposed to in these types of tableware is not dangerous, but the public should be cautioned to refrain from heating these items in a microwave.
