Students Recognized at Department Gathering

Students majoring in Foods and Nutrition, as well as Dietetics, were recognized and honored at the annual FCS Departmental Recognition held on March 29th. Seniors, Stephanie Ashmore and Chelsea Kamp were recognized for their research projects, Muscularity Issues Among Male Athletes, and The Synergistic Effects of Caffeine and Glucose on Memory among Students with Varing Stress Levels, respectively. Both will be presenting at the upcoming Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (URCA) Symposium taking place within the College of Arts and Sciences, today. At this time, both Stephanie and Chelsea are deciding on which graduate program to enter where they will continue their education in nutrition with the goal of completing a Masters of Science degree and becoming a Registered Dietitian.

The AU Student Dietetic Association (AUSDA) was also recognized, with Executive Officers taking the stage and discussing the outlined projects and objectives of this organization for the upcoming year. Executive Officers included: President Shawn Cooper, VP Rachel Stockel, Treasurer Autumn Sweet and Secretary Heather Bumbalough.

Enrollment in the Dietetics Major continues to stay strong with projections for the upcoming fall class of 2011 to once again include some of the best and brightest students at Ashland University from Ohio and the surrounding states and areas. We expect our students to continue to receive recognition as the program grows in strength, numbers, and influence.
