The first meeting of the AU Student Dietetics Association took place last week to begin the task of developing a constitution and bylaws that will guide this organization for many years to come. The meeting was fully attended by those students interested in the field and major of dietetics. The meeting lasted into the wee hours of the evening, discussing the components that would be included in the initial draft of the constitution. While writing and determining an organization's constitution may seem rather dull and boring, this was hardly the case among those in attendance. Students realized the historical importance of this document and took great effort in addressing each area contained in these guiding principles.
A draft constitution is nearly completed and will be distributed to members for a vote at the next scheduled meeting, March 2, 2011. The next piece of important business at this meeting will be the election of Executive Officers. Applications for these positions are due by the end of next week for consideration. It is an exciting time to be involved with Ashland University Dietetics!
Membership in this organization is open to any student interested in the areas of nutrition, dietetics, health or wellness. Look for future announcements from the Student Dietetics Association at this blog site.
